Arya Global cuisine in Cupertino.

i lOve tadigh. ever since my gf introduced it to me 10 years ago, ive looked for it on menus wherever i gO. it consists of

crispy deep fried saffron rice, with different sauce/curries atop.

entree of chicken and beef koobideh. serve atop saffron rice pilaf, with a roasted tomato.

i also ordered cucumber yogurt (not pictured) to go with my meal.. i like to dip the meats in it, and mix it in with the rice.

break of dawn.

11 Dec

breakfast at one of my favoriteS in orange county, BREAK OF DAWN.

in laguna, closer to aliso viejo. vietnamese owned and influenced gourmet breakfast foods.

everything here is a gastronomic treat..  the dishes are quite heavy- sO come hungry.

IMG_2479 copy

Billy’s Boston Chowder House

2 Dec

Lunch in Los Gatos downtown.

cute homey interiors. no fuss dining.

IMG_2159

new england clam chowder with oyster crackers. sO good. creamy, with chewy bits of clams and little bits of potato. this chowder is smoother than some, its definitely not “chunky” style.

IMG_2161

the Lobster Roll. huGE chunks of lobster, dipped in butter. i ordered it with tarragon mayo on the side- which i promptly emptied onto my bun after taking a little taste. the brioche is toasted and super soft, which makes the sandwich easy to eat and enjoy the lobster. the slaw, is also pretty good. for $20, this dish is pretty reasonably priced.

dish dash.

5 Jun

dinner @ dish dash, in sunnyvale.

this restaurant serves various old and new dishes from middle eastern countries.

to start, we had the fatayer, a mix of ground beef and lamb, baked in a filo pastry.

khyar b’laban. cucumber and greek yogurt, with herbs and olive oil. served with flatbreads.. i love this side dish.. i eat it with almost everything on the menu, meat, kebabs, rice curry… yuM.

this dish was entitled, “Mo, the King of Kebabs” beef, lamb, and ground beef.

i enjoyed this as my entree. m’sakhan:  seems like a pie, but it was chicken, onions, with sumac spices, baked in a tanour crust, with saffron yogurt sauce.

cut open.. lots of chicken.

back a yard.

31 May

dinner at Back A Yard, a caribbean american grill in dtsj.

jerk pork plate. with fried plantains, dirty rice, and salad. spicy jerk sauce on the side.

goat stew- the daily special. soft and tender, a little gamey goat flavor.

mac n cheese. a must order for me.

beef meat pie. this is almost a meal in itself, but i ate 1/2 of it as a side. i topped it with a ton of ketchup.

we also ordered an extra side of plantains for the table. i LOVE fried plantains. the caramelized sugar from the plantain on the heat, seals in the soft gooeyness of the ripe fruit.. it’s like having dessert for dinner.

i always enjoy caribbean food bc there are sO many flavors.

the cheese board collective.

30 May

pizza @ the cheese board collective, berkeley.

the concept. worker owned co-op. they serve ONE type of vegetarian pizza per day- no tomato sauce. live music.

and customers approve. the line was all the way down the street to the corner on our visit..

todays pizza:

cheesy goodness.

the verdict. it was good cheese, so of course it was tasty. however- for me, i really like red sauce on my pizzas.. sO, i think of this as another type of food.. if i’m craving a “pizza” i wouldn’t come here.. but for gooey cheese, more of a flatbread… most definitely.

yummy root beers. great ambience.. and the line went surprisingly fast.

extraordinary desserts.

30 May

extraordinary desserts, balboa park location.

visited san diego, and stopped in for cakes + coffee, as usual.

amazing weather in may.. sunny and warm, with a slight breeze.

love the cake display… i want to try everything. the rustic decor and homemade frosting “look” really makes me feel like loving care was put into these desserts. fresh flowers, always a plus in my book.

passionfruit millefeuile. amazing plating. not my favorite dessert here, but i wanted to try it. i think the pastry was a bit chewy, rather than flaky.

banana cream tart. yuM.

i think the cakes, (slices) are still my favorite order.. but i dO love all sweets!

relaxed tees + leggings = room to EAT more. ;)

cheers.

Baby Blues bbQ.

11 May

baby blues in venice beach.

one of my favorite bbq joints.

i love the baby back ribs. with tons of bbq sauce on the side. the xxx/porno sauce is super spicy, but has a good flavor.. i like to mix a few drops of it in with their mild sauce.

1/2 rack with cornbread and collard greens.

1/2 rack with mash potatoes.  below, “blues on the cob.” butter, chile, cotija cheese + lime, perfection.

dig in, and get your hands dirty!

the donuttery.

11 May

donuttery, huntington beach.

their blueberry donuts are sO addictive. i’ve been twice this week already.

soft, chewy and fruity. it’s similar to m&m, but without the long wait, and still at a great price.

on my first visit i also tried red velvet, and sprinkles.. which are both good, but in my world, cannot compare to the blueberry.
