Petrossian

13 Nov

brunch at petrossian west hollywood.

indulging in a bit of caviar at the nice outdoor patio. weekend mornings are pretty quiet on roberston, so this is quite a nice spot for a chill brunch + glass of rosè.

caviar sampler, with toast, blinis and crème fraîche.

breakfast @ southern kitchen.

downtown los gatos. comfort food for breakfast.

last time i was home my cousin took me here.. and i’ve been wanting to take b ever since. we were lucky to get seated right away this time!

i actually love breakfast food. breakfast is one of my favorite meals of the day- when i actually get the change to do it properly.. since i like to sleep in on weekends, i rarely get to do breakfast/brunches.. on weekdays- a coffee and a yogurt is all i have time for. sO, when i do”break” fast.. i do it right!

linguista sausage with over easy eggs. hash browns, and a house special buttermilk biscuit on the side. their sausage is REALLY good. flavorful, with a little kick- almost like a salami. YUM.

b’s chicken fried steak covered in gravy. i always get it mixed up.. but this is actually beef. prepared like “fried chicken.” either way, it was deLish. hearty+heavy southern breakfast foods for the win.

now, southern kitchen’s waffles and french toasts are especially good- the portions, flavor, and all the trimmings. i was craving something sweet, and since i knew we already had an order of the linguista sausage at our party.. i got the apricot french toast. it was AMAZING. apricot preserves folded in and toasted- the bread caramelized, crispy and fluffy. whipped butter, powdered sugar. i didn’t even need to use any their maple syrup.

i usually am only able to eat 2 pieces.. but no worries, the rest are polished off by my dining companions.

Clinton St. Baking Co and Restaurant

22 Sep

brunch in nyc @ clinton st baking co this past weekend.

a hotspot for brunch.. the wait was… 90 minutes! there were parties ( some locals, some tourists) lined up and down the sidewalk patiently waiting their turn.. i normally would not wait this long for brunch, but it was recommended.. and we didn’t really have anything to rush to.. so we did.

biscuit sandwich. their biscuits are really good- flaky buttery crust and soft inside. a bit crumbly, like a good biscuit should be!

Belgium waffle with stewed plums. fluffy, sweet and tart. a great balance of texture and flavor.

potato pancake with applesauce and sour cream. yuM.

i don’t think i would wait that long for brunch again, but everything we ordered was good!!

brunch @ southern kitChen in dt los gatos, caLi.

worth the long wait! no reservations for smaller parties.. sO, we shopped around dtlg for about 40 minutes before we were seated.

comfort southern style food. ( think grits, chicken fried steak, fried green tomatoes..) but what we came for, was the brunch food. we had read amazing reviews on the french toast- and they did not disappoint!

spicy linguista sausage with hash browns and over easy eggs. the sausage was sOo good. full of spices and flavor. ( cornbread not pictured.)

apricot french toast. the apricot compote was folded into the toast, topped with glaze and syrup. sweet and fluffy. giNormous portion.

my favorite. banana french toast. the ripe bananas were fried and carmelized, the fluffy toast was cut thinner, glazed a bit, and topped with delicious maple syrup. i could only eat half the plate.. the carb entrees are very share-abLe.

will def be returning!
