LV. Jean Georges Steakhouse

25 Jun

las vegas! dinner date at JG steakhouse.

we started with oysters and bread.. not pictured.

had a glass of ferrari carano chardonnay, which goes with everything ‘cept the steak. super smooth.

baby lettuce salad with bleu cheese dressing and bacon. a little too much dressing.. i would ask for it on the side next time. otherwise, it was good- super flavorful.

lobster bisque. beautiful presentation, poured tableside.

the sides we ordered: sauteed spinach, truffle + comte fritters- these were aMazing.

melty creamy cheesy truffle goodness. uGh.. i miss it already.

b’s ribeye steak, medium rare. the green herb sauce that came with it was sO good. reminded us of indian tapenade..

piece d’resistance : passionfruit souffle. very tart, not to sweet. i loved.

the JG molten chocolate cake.

JG was worth the long reservation leadtime. we’d def go back again.

i didn’t think i would miss this as much as i did.. but, i DID.

on top of my “places to eat when i’m home” list, was “ANY authentic mexican.”

so far, we went to Lola’s in long beach, Casa Playa in redondo beach, and Fidel’s little mexico in solana beach.. notice that all the cities end with “beach”? that wasn’t on accident. i love the beach.

carne asada tacos from Lola’s.

carne asada taco from Fidel’s little mexico.

chicken enchiladas from Fidel’s.

not pictured: chips, salsa and guac. at every location.

i die over HASS avocados.

home in southern cali.

cha cha chicken. a venice beach shack with straw umbrellas on the corner of pico and ocean.

the perfect LA lunchtime.. icy drinks, surfers, sun, a beachy breeze… and really good food.

fried plantains with sour creama. they do it best here.

cantaloupe juice, and spicy ginger beer.

delicious spicy jerk chicken enchiladas. with a side of dirty rice and red slaw.

awesome places like this, make it so much harder for me to go back to asia…  sad!

home in the bay area @ straits cafe for lunch at santana row.

indonesian corn croquettes with chili garlic sauce. crispy and light.

strais frites with galangal chili sauce, and creamy kaffir lime aioli.

my fave: garlic noodles with shitake mushrooms.

sitting on the patio, enjoying a leisurely lunch with a mint mojito.
